Christmas in Prague, 1995. Music in abundance, eight to ten concerts every evening, the favorite composers Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Antonio Vivaldi. Walking in the city one evening, seeing a girl on the sidewalk who was singing - classical music. There was no orchestra there to accompany her. But next to her on the sidewalk there was a device playing music minus one accompaniment to her vocalizing. She was the picture and the voice of courage, filling the evening air with the sound of her voice as it replayed the classical repertoire; the courage, her willingness to sing and hope that we passersby would appreciate it. I certainly did. I appreciated her singing, her courage, and her presence, presenting me with something I had never experienced, a recital au plein aire there in the night, her and the rest of us experiencing the adventures and rewards of this particular evening in this beautiful city at the Christmas time of year.
